Next Ramble Saturday 10th March
The March walk will be based around the village of Merton, near Watton. It covers some quiet lanes and footpaths, including a section of the Peddar's Way. It will be about 4 miles of comfortable rambling, with no styles. For many years a former daffodil producer poured surplus bulbs randomly besides roads and amongst trees, resulting in 'extreme daffodilling,' Even if not at their best by 10th March, we still hope for quite a spectacle to enhance our walk! Also if you do not know about 'The Norfolk Song-line' you must join us. We will have lunch at the very old thatched inn, 'The Chequers' at Thompson. We will meet 10.15 for 10.30 start at Merton Village Hall.
If you wish to join us let John and Angela Mills know, especially if you wish to have lunch. 01760 788294. firstname.lastname@example.org
For our ramble on Saturday 10th February, we had an excellent turn-out of 21 walkers, including several first-timers, whom we were very pleased to welcome. Starting and finishing at the Crown Inn, Gayton, we enjoyed a good ramble of about 4 miles in lovely countryside around Gayton and Gayton Thorpe, calling into the ancient round-towered church there. Although the wind was chilly, the rain held off just long enough for us to get back to the pub for lunch
